Job Title: System Administrator (Servers & Client Systems)

Job Overview:

We are seeking a skilled and experienced System Administrator to manage and maintain our Windows Server and Windows / Linux client systems. The ideal candidate will ensure the stability, integrity, Security and efficient operation of the organization’s IT infrastructure, with a focus on both server and desktop environments. This role involves day-to-day management of servers, workstations, network systems, and other critical IT services to meet business needs and security requirements.

Key Responsibilities:

Server Administration:
  • Install, configure, and maintain Windows Server systems.
  • Manage and configure Active Directory (AD), users, groups, and organizational units (OUs).
  • Set up and maintain Group Policy Objects (GPOs) and Group Policy Management.
  • Administer DHCP, DNS, and File & Print Services.
  • Oversee Backup and Disaster Recovery procedures, ensuring systems are regularly backed up and disaster recovery plans are in place and tested.
  • Monitor server health and performance, responding to alerts and taking appropriate corrective actions.
  • Manage and support Virtualization using Hyper-V.
Client Systems Management:
  • Install, configure, and manage Windows / Linux operating systems on client workstations.
  • Support end-user computing environments, including remote work configurations (VPN, RDP).
  • Perform troubleshooting for hardware, software, and network issues related to client systems.
  • Ensure the deployment and configuration of software, updates, and patches across all client systems.
  • Administer Windows Update and ensure that security patches are applied across client systems.
Network Administration:
  • Configure, maintain, and troubleshoot network infrastructure (including routers, switches, and firewalls).
  • Manage user network access, permissions, and VPN configurations.
  • Support network file sharing, including SMB and NFS protocols.
Security and Compliance:
  • Implement and maintain security protocols for both servers and workstations.
  • Administer BitLocker encryption on client devices and servers.
  • Monitor security policies, conduct regular audits, and assist in vulnerability management.
  • Manage Windows Defender or other endpoint protection software across the organization.
  • Ensure compliance with company security policies and industry standards (GDPR, HIPAA, etc.).
Automation and Scripting:
  • Utilize PowerShell and other scripting languages to automate repetitive administrative tasks (user provisioning, system health checks, etc.).
  • Develop and maintain scripts for server and workstation management.
Documentation and Reporting:
  • Create and maintain technical documentation for system configurations, network topologies, and procedures.
  • Provide regular reports on system health, performance, backups, and security status.
  • Document incidents, troubleshooting steps, and resolutions to ensure knowledge sharing.
User Support:
  • Provide support for end-user issues related to server or client systems.
  • Assist users with login issues, software installation, and network connectivity problems.
  • Train and assist users with best practices related to system security and troubleshooting.

Skills & Qualifications:

Required:
  • Proven experience as a System Administrator, IT Administrator, or similar role.
  • Hands-on experience with Windows Server 2019/2021 (installation, configuration, management, troubleshooting).
  • Strong understanding of Active Directory, DNS, DHCP, and Group Policy.
  • Experience with Windows 10/11 client management and troubleshooting.
  • Proficiency in PowerShell scripting for automation.
  • Experience with Hyper-V virtualization and management.
  • Strong understanding of networking protocols (TCP/IP, DHCP, DNS, VPN).
  • Familiarity with Windows Update Services (WSUS) and System Center Configuration Manager (SCCM).
  • Experience with backup solutions and disaster recovery planning.
  • Knowledge of security practices such as BitLocker, Windows Defender, and patch management.
  • Solid problem-solving and troubleshooting skills.
  • Strong communication skills and ability to work effectively with end-users and IT teams.
Nice to Have:
  • Certifications such as Microsoft Certified: Windows Server Fundamentals.
  • Familiarity with cloud platforms like Azure or AWS.
  • Experience with PowerShell.
  • Experience with server monitoring tools.

Education & Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, MCA or a related field (or equivalent experience).
  • 1 year of professional experience in Windows Server administration and management.
